Love Loudly

They tell us love is universal,

but only if it fits in a box-

wrapped tight, tied up with a bow,

neat enough to make them comfortable.

They say kindness matters,

but only if it’s convenient,

only if it doesn’t shake the foundation

of the world they refuse to rebuild.

They teach us tolerance-

as if love is something to endure,

as if existence is up for debate,

as if someone’s truth can be

a thing to agree or disagree with.

But love?  Love is not a whisper.

Love is not a closed door.

Love is not an apology for simply being.

Love is loud,

love is messy,

love is meant to be given freely,

not rationed like an overpriced luxury.

I want a world where love is not a privilege.

Where hands reach across differences

without fear of being slapped away.

Where acceptance isn’t a favor,

but a right written in the bones of our being.

So, love loudly.

Love like it cannot be silenced.

Love like it is meant to change the world.

Because it is.
