This Is My Voice

For a long time, people looked at me and saw silence. They thought I didn’t have much to say just because I don’t speak with my mouth like most do. But inside, my thoughts have always been loud—full of ideas, feelings, jokes, frustrations, and dreams. Writing gave me a way to let all of that out. Starting this blog wasn’t just about telling my story—it was about showing others that nonspeakers like me have voices, too. We just use different tools to share them.

Typing and Spelling take time and effort, but every sentence I create feels like a victory. Through this blog, I’ve been able to speak up for myself and my friends. I’ve shared what it feels like to be underestimated, and trapped within. And I’ve also shared the beauty of finding connection, understanding, and friendship—just in a different way. People are starting to listen, and that means everything.

Writing has also helped me with something I didn’t expect: my emotions. Getting the words out of my head and onto the screen makes things feel lighter. I don’t always need someone to fix things—sometimes, I just need to be heard. This blog gives me that space, and I hope it helps others feel seen, too.

I might not speak with my voice, but every word I type is full of power. For anyone reading this—whether you’re a nonspeaker, a family member, or just curious—please remember: communication comes in many forms. Respect them all. Because everyone deserves to be heard.

Hi Arjun, so happy to read your words. You may remember Kartik, Arjun and me from Newton! I am working on spelling with Kartik and hope he can find his voice just like you! We are all rooting for you! - Pallavii
